The milliseconds and the megabytes come from measuring both on the same Windows 11 machine, three runs each, starting from cold. The rest is what each one ships today.
Press the shortcut and the selection is already there, in 28 milliseconds. No loading screen and no full second staring at a frozen desktop.
33 MB of memory while capturing and a 2.2 MB installer. The app Windows ships spends eight times more to do less.
6× zoom with the colour in hex under the cursor, and windows highlight themselves: one click and you have the whole window, with no fiddling with edges.
Record the region at 15, 30 or 60 frames and export to GIF or MP4. With no bundled FFmpeg: Windows writes the video in hardware.
Trim the start and the end with two marks, watch the loop, change the size and the quality, and export. All in the same window.
No account, no telemetry and no uploads. The code is open and the installer does not even ask for administrator rights.
Both global shortcuts can be changed in the settings: click the field and type the combination you want.

The installer goes to your user and not to the system, so Windows never asks for administrator rights. From inside the app it updates itself with one button, and every download is signed and checked before anything is installed.
